Government Reports Cannabis Export Revenue of 2.5 Billion Baht, Advances Digital System to Streamline Approval Process

The government revealed that accumulated cannabis export revenue has exceeded 2.5 billion baht. It is preparing to link the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine with the Customs Department's system to support digital cannabis exports, which will reduce paperwork and accelerate approval processes.

On 27 June 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Sangjan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government is continuously advancing the digital transformation of public services. This aims to improve service efficiency for citizens and businesses, reduce operational redundancies, enhance inter-agency data exchange, and support more effective trade facilitation.

Ms. Ploytale said the government, through the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, is preparing to connect the DTAM Next system with the Customs Department's National Single Window (NSW). This integration will enable electronic submission of controlled herb export details (cannabis) via form Por Thor 32. This system serves as the country's central platform for exchanging export data and electronic documents. Currently, Thailand's cumulative controlled herb exports total over 2.566 billion baht in value and more than 201,658 kilograms in volume, reflecting continuous growth in the controlled herb export market.

Ms. Ploytale explained that once the system is fully integrated, businesses will be able to submit controlled herb export notifications (cannabis) or form Por Thor 32 entirely through the DTAM Next digital platform. Previously, paper documents had to be prepared and submitted in person. Now, the data will automatically transfer to the Customs Department's NSW system, reducing paperwork burdens, streamlining procedures, improving data accuracy, preventing document forgery, and allowing easier tracking of application status.

"Currently, the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine issues approximately 100–200 Por Thor 32 forms per month. This system development is expected to reduce paper document usage by more than 1,200–2,400 forms annually, significantly lowering costs and travel for businesses. Additionally, it will enhance the approval process efficiency by cutting processing time from about 5–7 working days—including paper handling—to just 1–2 working days electronically. This improvement enables businesses to better plan exports and manage operations more flexibly."
