Deputy Education Minister Akkharanat has ordered an urgent investigation into the assistant teacher exam list change after a woman resigned from her job awaiting government appointment but was denied placement. He emphasized that if the government causes harm to the public, it must take responsibility and provide fair compensation.
On 27 June 2026, Deputy Minister Akkharanat Kankittinan disclosed that a Facebook user named NuNim Worasan posted that Ms. Chanatda Worasan, who passed the selection for appointment as an assistant teacher at Nawamintrachinuthit Suankularb Wittayalai School in Samut Prakan, resigned from her previous job and spent money on travel and accommodation to prepare for government service. However, she was later informed that the exam candidate list order was changed after the Samut Prakan Secondary Education Service Area Office issued a new announcement canceling the original list, raising doubts about the legality and transparency of the process.
Mr. Akkharanat said that Minister Prasert Chandraruangthong and he have received reports about the case and are taking it seriously as it directly impacts the lives and futures of successful candidates. He has instructed the relevant agencies to urgently and thoroughly verify the facts and legality, especially regarding the cancellation of the candidate list and whether the entire procedure was correct, transparent, and compliant with regulations.
“I understand how those affected feel, because resigning from a job to enter government service is not a small matter but a major life decision. If errors occur due to government processes, those impacted should not bear the consequences alone.”
Mr. Akkharanat also emphasized that the Ministry of Education values good governance and transparency in administration. If any procedures are found improper or infringe on candidates’ rights, corrections and fair treatment for all parties will be made without discrimination. This issue is not just about one person but concerns public trust in the bureaucracy. Everyone who passes the exam based on merit deserves fairness, and all government orders must be verifiable.
He added that he has urged a swift conclusion of the investigation so all parties receive clear answers. If any wrongdoing caused harm to candidates, the Ministry will consider appropriate legal remedies. Those who have followed all procedures honestly should not suffer from bureaucratic mistakes. He stressed that fairness does not end with the investigation but must include compensation for those affected. If the government harms its citizens, it must take responsibility and find the most just solution.
