Election Collusion Case for Senators to Conclude on Schedule, Election Commission Chair Explains Evidence in Ice Cream Clip is Included in Case File

The Chair of the Election Commission is confident the senator election collusion case will conclude within the set timeframe. He emphasized the commission cannot simply forward the case to court immediately because it is not a postal service; each case file must be carefully reviewed and adjudicated. He confirmed that the evidence revealed by MP Parit is already included in the investigation file.

On 27 June 2026 at Ban Bangkapi School, Mr. Narong Klanwarin, Chair of the Election Commission, spoke about progress in the senator election collusion case, stating that the commission meets every Monday to review the matter. They have met three times so far, with the fourth meeting scheduled for the upcoming Monday, out of 12 planned sessions. He expects to complete the case within the legal timeframe. He added there is significant pressure to immediately send the case to court, but explained this cannot be done. When complaints arise, the commission must investigate and decide whether to dismiss the complaint or send it to court. Simply forwarding the case like a postal service is illegal and not allowed; a ruling is required for every case.

"Regarding whether the commission is delaying, it is not. I have consistently affirmed that we will finish within 12 sessions. We meet every Monday, but not daily because we have other meetings, such as for local elections and Bangkok elections. If complaints arise, we must also address them in other meetings. There are many case files and the commission must have time to review them thoroughly. We do not rely solely on the opinions of any single subcommittee; we consider all materials," Mr. Narong said.

Concerning MP Parit Watcharasindhu of the People’s Party list who has continuously revealed evidence in the senator collusion case, including the recent case from Nakhon Phanom province, and whether these will be additionally reviewed, Mr. Narong said all evidence is already included in the case file. He personally has not had the chance to see exactly what MP Parit has stated, but assured that all evidence in the file—including witness testimony, documents, scientific evidence, and telephone financial trails—will be fully considered.

When asked if he feels pressured as the opposition continues to push on this issue, the Election Commission Chair said he does not feel pressured because he is simply fulfilling his duties within the legal framework. If he felt pressured, he would have resigned already.
