Agricultural Employers Council Nominates Supanan to Contest Social Security Board Employer Seats Against Political Groups

The Agricultural Employers' Council is ready to compete by nominating Supanan to contest the employer seats on the Social Security Board, challenging political groups, and calling on genuine employers to exercise their rights to oversee the Social Security Fund.  They urge real employers to take part in protecting the fund's management.

On 27 June 2026 at Century Park Hotel in Bangkok, the Agricultural Employers' Council of Thai Business and Industry (Council 8) held a press conference to announce their representative candidacy for the employer side in the upcoming Social Security Board elections. They also unveiled policies to reform the social security system, focusing on transparent fund management, auditability, improved investment efficiency, and advancing benefits for employers, especially SMEs.

Mr. Praphan Puipiboon, Chairman of the Agricultural Employers' Council of Thai Business and Industry, said that over the past 28 years, the council has sent representatives to various tripartite organizations, including labor courts, wage committees, and labor committees under the Ministry of Labor. For the Social Security Board elections scheduled for 27 September, the council resolved to nominate Dr. Supanan Plodhet, who possesses knowledge and experience in labor and tripartite systems, as the employer representative candidate. He will reflect employer issues and help shape labor policies.

Dr. Supanan currently serves as Managing Director of Synpepco Co., Ltd. and affiliated businesses. He has been an associate judge at the Labor Court for four terms, an employer representative on the Wage Committee for two terms, and an employer representative on the Workmen's Compensation Fund Committee. He has also been a subcommittee member in various Ministry of Labor committees. He decided to run to promote fairness in social security for all parties, especially employers who contribute to the fund but receive minimal benefits. He wants employers not to see social security contributions as a burden. Employers, as contributors, should have appropriate rights and welfare because the social security fund is not solely for insured employees.

“I would like to invite genuine employers to exercise their rights to preserve the tripartite system. I do not want politics to interfere in fund management because this money comes jointly from employers and employees.”
