Election Commission Emphasizes No Campaigning After 6 PM Urges Public to Report Election Irregularities

The Election Commission reiterated its readiness for the Bangkok and Pattaya mayoral elections on 28 June 2026, ordering vigilance against rain and instructing the Provincial Waterworks Authority to follow regulations if polling stations need to be canceled or relocated. It warned candidates and supporters against campaigning after 6 PM and invited the public to observe and report any irregularities during the election process.

On 27 June 2026, at the Election Commission office, Lt. Commander Phasakorn Siripakayaporn, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, held a press conference on election preparations for Bangkok and Pattaya. Equipment for polling station committees in both Bangkok and Pattaya was distributed smoothly earlier that morning. Emphasis was placed on monitoring natural hazards, such as rain. The Commission notified election directors in Bangkok and Chonburi to have local election committees on alert for natural hazards and, if necessary, to strictly follow legal procedures regarding cancellation or relocation of polling stations, highlighting this as a critical issue.

The Deputy Secretary-General further stated that from 6 PM today, candidates, voters, and supporters are prohibited by law from any campaign advertising, whether beneficial or harmful to any candidate. Notably, transporting voters to polling stations or back without charge is illegal. Offering money, goods, or other benefits to voters to influence their choice, as well as voters demanding such benefits to vote or abstain from voting for certain candidates, is also illegal.

Lt. Commander Phasakorn emphasized that tomorrow, supervisors or employers must cooperate to allow their subordinates to exercise their voting rights. Any unjustified obstruction or delay of employees’ voting rights will be punishable by law. Voters must also prepare proper identification and verify their candidate numbers and polling station details, which can be checked via the notification letters sent by the registration office or through the Election Commission’s Smart Vote app or Bangkok Vote app.

Polling station assignments and voter sequence numbers can be verified through the letters sent by the registration office to household heads or via the Election Commission’s Smart Vote app or the Bangkok Vote app provided by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

"Additionally, the public is invited to observe the election process. Voters have the right to monitor from the voting process to any election law violations, including vote counting. If there are doubts or suspicious issues, they may raise objections to the precinct election committees to ensure the election proceeds smoothly and is accepted by all parties," Lt. Commander Phasakorn said.
