“Wiroj” Compares Interior Ministry Conflict to the “Tu-Pom” Split Caused by Close Associates

The deputy leader of the Prachachon Party analyzes the rift within the Ministry of Interior as a festering sore, comparing it to the past fallout between the two 'P' leaders caused by close aides who broke their alliance.

On 26 June 2026, Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, deputy leader of the Prachachon Party, gave an interview analyzing the internal conflict within the Ministry of Interior among the blue political camp. He stated that this issue urgently requires reconciliation, or else working together will become difficult. He noted that typically, when top leaders clash irreconcilably, the root cause often lies with "trusted close aides."

Mr. Wiroj cited the past case between General Prawit Wongsuwan and General Prayut Chan-o-cha, who eventually parted ways partly due to issues involving their close aides. He also referred to rumors within the Ministry of Interior about Mr. Naruetcha Kosa Sivilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, who is seen as having risen with support from Mr. Nawin Chidchob. His behavior in several incidents reportedly bypassed Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s authority. When warned, he reportedly ignored orders, instead using back-channel connections that Anutin hesitated to confront directly. If true, Mr. Wiroj said he sympathizes with Anutin facing such unprofessional work conditions.

Mr. Wiroj views this latest blue camp internal conflict as not yet a total break, but more like a "festering sore" that accumulates tension over time. He questioned how Prime Minister Anutin can govern subordinates effectively if unseen hands issue orders behind his back and officials disregard direct supervisors. If management errors occur, the Prime Minister must bear responsibility—not those working behind the scenes.

"If after two or three attempts at reconciliation it still fails because subordinates refuse to resolve issues, working together will become very difficult. This is a dangerous signal for the government, as neither side wants to dismiss their loyal aides," Mr. Wiroj said.

The deputy leader emphasized that if these rumors prove true, the limited positions will become a battleground between the "Nawin faction" and the "Anutin faction," like two tigers that cannot share a den. He expressed concern and disappointment that instead of prioritizing the people, internal conflict leaves citizens confused, while honest civil servants struggle to maintain their integrity amid competing blue factions, whether the contractor-aligned or the Thunder Castle-aligned groups.

"The outcome is unpredictable if the issues aren’t resolved. Internal sabotage will continue like rust eating from within. But one thing is certain: Anutin’s faction will undermine Nawin’s faction, and vice versa. Confidential information will be leaked in full, because when ego and vested interests are involved, no one will yield," Mr. Wiroj concluded.
