Permanent Secretary of the Interior Orders Immediate Deployment of Volunteer Defense Corps for Security at Department of Local Administration After Major Raid

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, "Arsit," has urgently ordered a team of Volunteer Defense Corps members to carry out security duties and maintain order at the Department of Local Administration after the National Anti-Corruption Commission and police conducted a major raid investigating corruption in local civil service exams.

On 27 June 2026 GMT+7, reporters received a report that Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, directed the Secretariat Office of the Volunteer Defense Corps to assign Volunteer Defense Corps members to serve as security personnel at the government premises of the Department of Local Administration.

The Secretariat Office of the Volunteer Defense Corps deployed four members from the Special Operations Company 1 (Ministry of Interior) equipped for incident response to perform security duties at the Department of Local Administration.

Reporters note that the Permanent Secretary's order to deploy Volunteer Defense Corps members for security at the Department of Local Administration followed a joint inspection by the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Anti-Corruption Police Division of the Royal Thai Police. The investigation targets corruption in the 2025 competitive exams for recruiting local government officials and employees, with authorities currently expanding their probe into related agencies and individuals.
