Bangkok officials reported that the opening of all 6,628 polling stations for the Bangkok Governor and Councilor elections proceeded smoothly. Several stations saw higher voter turnout than in 2022. Unofficial results are expected by 22:00.
At 09:55 on 28 June 2026, at the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Election Coordination Center for Councilors and the Governor at City Hall (Sao Chingcha), Mr. Thanit Tanbuaklee, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Bangkok, gave an overview of the morning opening of 50 election districts. Bangkok had successfully delivered ballot boxes and election materials to the election officers at every polling station. The first polling stations to receive materials were Station 2 in Chim Phli subdistrict, Taling Chan district, and Station 76 in Tha Raeng subdistrict, Bang Khen district, at 04:13 simultaneously. The last station to receive materials was Station 7 in Thawi Watthana subdistrict, Thawi Watthana district, at 06:09. The ballot boxes and materials were then placed at the polling stations, ready for the scheduled 08:00 opening for voters to cast their ballots, all proceeding smoothly.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary added that voter turnout this morning at many polling stations exceeded that of the election four years ago. He encouraged eligible voters to cast their ballots before 13:00, as rain is forecast in the afternoon in many areas, especially Sai Mai, Don Mueang, Bang Khen districts, and parts of Min Buri, Nong Chok, and Saphan Sung districts, which may hinder voters' ability to participate.
Mr. Thanit confirmed that overall, the vote counting for Bangkok Councilors and Governor elections is expected to yield about 80% of unofficial results by 22:00 today.
