Chairman of the Election Commission Exercises Voting Rights in Bangkok Governor and Council Elections, Reports Smooth Voting Process

The Chairman of the Election Commission inspected polling officials and exercised his voting rights in the Bangkok Governor and City Council elections, while also advising voters on how to mark their ballots correctly to avoid invalid votes. Overall, all polling stations operated smoothly.

At 08:00 on 28 June 2026, Mr. Narong Klanwarin, Chairman of the Election Commission, along with his team, visited polling station 12 at the Crystal Design Center (CDC) parking tent to inspect officials and cast his vote in the Bangkok Governor election. This polling station had 641 eligible voters for governor and 633 for the Bangkok Council election. He encouraged the polling staff and emphasized that operations be conducted properly and legally. He then cast his vote for the Member of Parliament and referendum at polling station 12, where he was registered as voter number 602.

Mr. Narong stated that the overall situation at all polling stations remained normal and orderly, expressing confidence in the preparedness of the polling officials. He added that weather forecasts reported heavy rain in some areas of Bangkok yesterday, so all stations were instructed to prepare accordingly. Contingency plans were in place for emergencies such as heavy rain, tents being blown away, or flooding, which he believed would be manageable. He urged citizens to vote by 17:00 to avoid possible afternoon rain, targeting a voter turnout exceeding the previous 70%.

Regarding the Pattaya mayoral and city council elections in Chonburi Province, he emphasized that polling officials must clearly inform voters how to mark their ballots correctly to prevent spoiled votes.
