“Abhisit” Exercises Right to Vote in Bangkok Governor and Council Elections, Urges Bangkok Residents to Participate, Emphasizes Importance of Every Election

Abhisit, leader of the Democrat Party, exercised his right to vote in the Bangkok governor and council member elections. He urged Bangkok residents to participate, stressing that every election is important to their lives. He prepared to join the party later to await the Democrat team's vote results in the evening.

At 08:50 hrs on 28 June 2026 at Sawasdee Wittaya School, Khlong Tan Nuea Subdistrict, Watthana District, Bangkok, polling station 1, Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, arrived to vote for the Bangkok governor and council members. Abhisit was the 47th voter. After voting, he invited Bangkok residents to exercise their voting rights for both governor and council members, emphasizing that every election is important to everyone's life.

When asked about the turnout seeming less lively than the general election for MPs, Abhisit said that the morning turnout was still low and he wanted to encourage Bangkok residents to come out and vote. He said he would follow the election results for the governor and council members after polls close at 17:00 hrs at the Democrat Party office.

The atmosphere at Sawasdee Wittaya School polling station included four polling units within the school. Voters arrived steadily since the polls opened at 08:00 hrs, but turnout was less enthusiastic than the general election for MPs. Notable figures from politics, finance, and entertainment were registered to vote here, including Privy Councillor Amporn Kittiampon, former Minister to the Prime Minister's Office Suranand Vejjajiva, Democrat Party list MP Parit Watcharasindhu, Bangkok Bank chairman Chatisiri Sophonpanich, actor and singer Jumpon Adulkittiporn (off), and actor and host Niti Chaichitathorn (Pompam).
