The Election Commission announced an overall smooth opening of polling stations in Bangkok and Pattaya, having resolved all emergencies without affecting any stations. They emphasized strict election rules and encouraged the public to observe and monitor vote counting to maintain transparency in the process.
At 10:30 a.m. on 28 Jun 2026 GMT+7, at the Election Commission Office, Deputy Secretary-General Phaskorn Siriphakdyaporn held a press conference reporting that since 8:00 a.m., the Election Commission offices in Bangkok and Chonburi have confirmed that all 6,628 polling stations in Bangkok and 133 in Pattaya opened properly. Some stations reported dense crowds waiting to vote. He clarified that the Bangkok governor ballot is green, allowing voters to choose one candidate; the Bangkok Council member ballot is pink, allowing one candidate per district. Pattaya’s mayor ballot is green, allowing one choice, while the Pattaya council ballot is pink, allowing voters in four districts to select six candidates.
Before voting, voters are advised to prepare their identification documents and to be cautious about election law violations, such as not removing ballots from polling stations, not marking ballots other than as instructed, and using only the official ballots provided by polling officials. It is prohibited to damage ballots, intentionally mark them beyond the voting mark, photograph ballots showing marked choices, or display completed ballots to others revealing their vote.
"To facilitate voters, both Bangkok and Pattaya have launched websites showing polling station locations for those planning to vote. Citizens can visit the Bangkok and Pattaya official websites to locate their designated polling stations."
The Deputy Secretary-General also addressed preparedness for emergencies, noting that on Friday heavy rain and a fallen electric pole on Chalong Krung Road in Lat Krabang district affected polling stations in zones 10 and 11 at the We Market shopping center and zones 12 to 14 at the Sena Kit parking lot. Bangkok authorities took necessary action, and by morning all polling stations were fully open. Earlier that day, a fire occurred in Lak Si district, which was confirmed not to affect any polling locations.
All 133 polling stations in Pattaya are located indoors, so weather issues are not expected. Backup power equipment has been emphasized. Regarding discrepancies in sample ballot signs indicating valid and invalid ballots, coordination with the Chonburi Election Commission office resolved the issue, and large signs clarifying valid and invalid ballots have been posted at every polling station entrance.
The Deputy Secretary-General invited all eligible voters in Bangkok and Pattaya not only to vote but also to observe the election process and vote counting to ensure correctness. If they witness any violations, they should raise objections with officials so corrections can be made, ensuring the election concludes smoothly and is accepted by all parties.
