The Finance Committee is advancing efforts to swiftly investigate Forex and related financial pathways within two weeks, assuring fairness and comprehensive consideration while promoting loans to sustain restaurants and hotels through the economic crisis and prevent foreign acquisition of Thai businesses.
On 28 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Juti Krairiksh, Chairman of the Finance, Fiscal, Financial Institutions, and Capital Market Committee of the House of Representatives, disclosed that Ms. Siriwan Prasopsatru, Chair of the Subcommittee on Screening for Study Consideration, presented complaints received from Mr. Tankun Jitisara, Chairman of the Santiprachatham Club, requesting an investigation into the foreign exchange (Forex) trading market and related financial routes. This follows many victims being defrauded by illegal brokers and the Bank of Thailand lacking supporting legislation, which was then brought to the Finance Committee meeting.
"The committee will thoroughly consider and expedite conclusions regarding fraud against the public both inside and outside the stock market, including issues where minority shareholders have been treated unfairly and bondholders have not yet been compensated. We aim to report back to the meeting within two weeks. Our working principle is to prioritize resolving the public's hardships." Mr. Juti said.
Mr. Juti added that the Finance and Fiscal Committee has also consulted with specialized financial institutions under the Ministry of Finance on ways to support government policies aimed at promoting loans to assist small Thai entrepreneurs such as restaurants and hotels, which are critical for domestic employment but currently face liquidity shortages. This support is intended to help them maintain ownership and prevent foreign entities from taking over these businesses. State banks are expected not only to provide loans but also to act as mentors in financial and marketing aspects to help sustain these businesses.
"Our concern is how to make loan access easier and faster for the public. Anyone facing difficulties can file complaints with the committee. We will coordinate, consider assistance measures, and work proactively to ensure people remain employed and businesses can continue operating amid the challenging economic conditions, reduced domestic purchasing power, and the tourism sector’s incomplete recovery." The Finance Committee Chairman said.
