Seniors 60+ Can Now Sell Online: Government Launches Free Course Teaching Complete Shopee Sales Skills

Seniors aged 60 and above can sell online. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has launched training called “Shop Well, Sell Well on Shopee,” teaching comprehensive online sales skills from store opening to generating sales, increasing opportunities for seniors to create jobs and income in the digital age.

On 28 June 2026 GMT+7, Major Patchdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government is advancing opportunities for seniors to access jobs and income in the digital economy by developing essential skills for online professions. This aligns with Thailand’s preparation for an aging society. Recently, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, through the Department of Older Persons, partnered with Sea (Thailand) and Shopee (Thailand) under the Shopee University TH by Ajarn Shopee project to conduct a workshop titled “Shop Well, Sell Well on Shopee” at the Sea (Thailand) office. The aim is to empower seniors to leverage digital knowledge to develop careers and generate income from their own products.

The Deputy Spokesperson explained that the course is designed for easy learning and practical use by seniors. It covers everything from opening an online store, managing the storefront, product photography, writing product descriptions, pricing, using marketing tools, managing orders, to earning income through an online affiliate system. This affiliate option allows those who want to earn without investing in stock or handling deliveries. The program also integrates knowledge on cybersecurity, how to recognize online scams, and safe digital transactions to enable seniors to use the internet confidently and stay vigilant against fraudsters.

This training involved a total of 250 participants: 50 onsite and 200 online. Participants included general seniors, senior club networks, senior schools, social development volunteers, as well as seniors and staff from 12 social welfare development centers for the elderly and the Senior Learning and Training Center of Chonburi Province. This reflects the strong interest among senior networks in developing digital skills to expand into career and income opportunities online.

“The government wants seniors not only to keep pace with the digital world but also to use technology to create jobs and increase their income. This project is an important step in opening opportunities for seniors to learn new skills, confidently and safely become online entrepreneurs, and thereby build long-term economic security for themselves and their families,” the spokesperson added.
