On 28 June 2026, Deputy Minister of Interior Je Seth traveled urgently to Pattani province to monitor the situation following the fatal shooting of a member of the Territorial Defense Volunteers in Yarang district. He offered condolences to the bereaved families and closely followed up on assistance and compensation from relevant agencies. Je Seth received situation reports from the Pattani governor, district chief, and security agencies, urging swift and full support for the families of the deceased, including benefits, welfare, and compensation according to government regulations, as well as coordination among all agencies to maintain morale among personnel serving in the area.
Je Seth said, "This loss deeply saddens me. Since I took charge of agencies involved in disaster prevention and mitigation, as well as administrative personnel, I have always regarded everyone as one family, sharing the mission of maintaining order and safety for our people. I offer my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. I assure you that those serving and the families of those who sacrifice will not be abandoned. The Ministry of Interior will expedite full support for their rights, welfare, and compensation, while closely monitoring the situation and supporting the officers’ work in the area."
Je Seth emphasized that all relevant agencies must work together to ensure the safety of personnel and the local population, while boosting morale among officers so they can fully perform their duties protecting the people. He added that he will not let this incident pass without serious follow-up. On Monday, 29 June, he will convene a meeting of all related agencies to establish a war room to closely monitor the situation, including care for the families of the deceased, assistance and compensation, morale building, and strengthening security measures for personnel on duty.
