At 11:30 a.m. on 28 June 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Assit Sampanarat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, spoke at the Ministry of Interior about the progress of the local exam fraud case, saying that new information has emerged and a report will be ready immediately after the 7-day period, which will then be presented. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to proceed with further actions based on the facts. He stressed that the process must be transparent and clear, aiming to restore public confidence in the Ministry of Interior's work and assuring that full effort is being made.
Mr. Assit added that regarding the investigation steps, once the case is received, each issue will be examined, such as complaints from candidates who passed but were not officially listed—these will be cross-checked against original documents. There are also complaints about bribery where some candidates paid but did not pass. Multiple issues must be clarified thoroughly.
When asked if the Prime Minister gave any special instructions after personally visiting the Department of Local Administration on the evening of 27 June 2026 to inspect security measures for storing exam documents and files, the Permanent Secretary said the Prime Minister places great importance on this matter and has instructed him to order the Civil Defense Volunteers to guard all key locations related to the case. The Prime Minister himself conducted the site visit and confirmed that security measures are carefully and thoroughly enforced.
Regarding civil servants required to report on 1 July 2026, those who do not appear will be deemed to have forfeited their rights. He reaffirmed that criminal and disciplinary actions will be taken. The Ministry of Interior is coordinating with the police and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) as part of this process.
As for the investigation of the 10 officials involved, Mr. Assit believes everyone is anxious, but if the process is completed within 7 days, which is near now, the truth will be revealed clearly once the fact-finding report is released. He assured there will be no negligence and anyone at fault must be held accountable. He urged everyone to trust the Ministry of Interior.
