Nopadol Promotes Modern Village Police Volunteers to Enhance Public Safety

Nopadol Kannika revealed that the Prime Minister is elevating the Police Commission (กต.ตร.) and expanding the "modern village police volunteer" program to strengthen national security and enhance public safety in the community.

On 28 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Nopadol Kannika, a member of the National Police Policy Committee (ก.ต.ช.), an expert and public representative, and Chair of the National Police Policy Subcommittee on Public Participation, disclosed that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, as Chair of the National Police Policy Committee, appointed him to serve as Chair of the Subcommittee on Public Participation. This role is to drive key policies that elevate public participation and strengthen the Police Commission (กต.ตร.) at all levels as the main mechanism to systematically connect the public with the Royal Thai Police.

This policy aims to build on the "village police volunteer" program under the 2008 Royal Thai Police regulations promoting public, community, local, and organizational involvement in policing, adapting it to current social contexts. Police Commissions at every police station and community leaders will serve as centers for collaboratively selecting, developing, supporting, monitoring, and evaluating village police volunteers' work alongside local police and residents. Thus, the Police Commissions will not only advise or oversee police administration but also act as a strategic state mechanism fostering cooperation between citizens and police to enhance national security and public safety from the community to the national level.

Under the Prime Minister's policy, village police volunteers will be systematically developed in selection, training, certification standards, benefits, welfare, and sustainable remuneration models. Additionally, a transparent monitoring and evaluation system will allow Police Commissions, community leaders, local citizens, and central agencies to jointly assess performance. This ensures village police volunteers become a quality civic force that alleviates police workload and sustainably enhances safety in communities nationwide.

This is a key concept the government, led by Prime Minister Anutin as Chair of the National Police Policy Committee, is actively promoting through developing a "modern village police volunteer system." The goal is to elevate public participation in maintaining order, protecting life and property, and strengthening communities across the country.
