
In the 2026 Bangkok gubernatorial election, Chadchart broke the previous record by securing the highest vote count in history with 1.44 million votes. Mallika trails in second place, while Chaiwat and Anucha hold third and fourth positions respectively.
On 28 June 2026, reporters reported after the closing of the ballot boxes for the Bangkok governor and Bangkok Council elections. At 17:00, unofficial vote counts began to be released. By 21:10, 2,201,739 ballots had been counted, representing 95.0% of the total 6,628 polling stations.
The latest vote count for the Bangkok governor candidates at 21:10 shows that Mr. Chadchart Sitthiphan, an independent candidate and former governor, has exceeded one million votes, totaling 1,444,914 votes, which accounts for 65.6%.
Following him is Mrs. Mallika Boonmitrakul Mahasuk, an independent candidate, who received 288,171 votes, representing 13.1%.
Mr. Chaiwat Sathawarawijit, candidate from the People’s Party (PPP), ranks third with 176,934 votes, or 8%.
In fourth place is Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri, candidate from the Democrat Party (DP), who received 101,819 votes, accounting for 4.6%.
The vote counts for other candidates are as follows:
Mom Luang Korakasiwat Kasemsri received 45,598 votes, accounting for 2.1%.
Mr. Samai Lalert received 17,462 votes, representing 0.8%.
Mr. Prateep Watcharachokkasem received 14,415 votes, or 0.7%.
Mr. Pongsak Puapornpong received 11,880 votes, accounting for 0.5%.
Police Lieutenant General Chantep Sesawet received 7,625 votes, or 0.3%.
Mr. Pisarn Kittiyaowamal received 4,147 votes, representing 0.2%.
Mr. Weerapot Lueprasitsakul received 3,994 votes, or 0.2%.
Mr. Komsan Punwichatikul received 3,512 votes, accounting for 0.2%.
Mr. Phasapong Chaiwiriyavanich received 3,422 votes, or 0.2%.
Mr. Prayoon Krongyot received 2,089 votes, accounting for 0.1%.
Mr. Olan Tangtratrakul received 1,712 votes, or 0.1%.
Ms. Sirarat Changphet received 1,507 votes, representing 0.1%.
Mr. Somchai Charoenworakiat received 1,217 votes, or 0.1%.
Ms. Lallana Mongkolhasdin received 922 votes, accounting for 0.0%.
Reporters noted that Mr. Chadchart’s vote count in the 2026 election is the highest in the history of Bangkok gubernatorial elections since voting began in 1975. Moreover, Chadchart surpassed his own previous record set in the 2022 election.
In the 2022 Bangkok governor election, Chadchart received a total of 1,386,215 votes. Meanwhile, the Democrat Party’s candidate at that time, Mr. Suchatvee Suwannasang, received 254,723 votes, and the Move Forward Party’s candidate, Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, came in third with 253,938 votes.
