Songsak Rebuts Wirot on Blue Faction Turmoil, Affirms No Conflict Between Anutin and Newin

Songsak rebuts Wirot's claim about the blue faction's turmoil, affirming there is no conflict between Anutin and Newin. He emphasizes that political differences are normal but not divisive in nature.

On 29 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Prime Minister and Palang Thai party leader, addressed criticism from Mr. Wirot Lakkhanaadisorn, Deputy Leader of the People’s Party. Wirot criticized internal disputes in the Ministry of Interior, suggesting a conflict between 'two Ns'—Prime Minister and Interior Minister Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul and Buriram United Football Club Chairman Mr. Newin Chidchob. Songsak described this as mere rumor, stating that he sees no issues. He added that Newin is his cousin and they have no problems.

People try to portray the news as a conflict, but I must say plainly that no one thinks exactly alike. Differences of opinion are natural, but they do not equate to conflict. Therefore, labeling differing views as discord or disagreement is, I affirm, absolutely untrue.

When asked about Wirot’s warning not to repeat the 'Uncle Tu-Uncle Pom' discord, Songsak replied that the comparison was just that—a comparison—and not accurate. He also noted the individuals are from different generations.

When further asked whether the 'blue faction' is experiencing internal conflict, Songsak asked, 'What is the blue faction?' After a reporter explained it referred to Palang Thai party’s color, Songsak reaffirmed there is no issue. He said politics naturally involves such stories; if there were no news, people would lose interest. This is simply one news story that draws public attention.

“Which is good, because the government is currently accelerating the Thai Help Thai Plus project, examining how its budget benefits the people and how the public gains from it. This allows for monitoring and reflection. Today, some citizens have praised the project and expressed hope for subsequent phases. I have heard from the public that this is a very good and beneficial project, helping stimulate the economy both broadly and at the grassroots level,” Songsak said.
