On 29 June 2026, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), through the Department of Climate Change and Environment, in collaboration with Chulalongkorn University, held the seminar “New-Generation CEOs Turning Climate Challenges into Business Opportunities” and the certificate and badge awarding ceremony for graduates of the Environmental Governance Certificate for Senior Executives (PTS) courses 11 and 12 at the Mukdawan Rangsan Room, Army Club (Vibhavadi), Bangkok, aiming to build a partnership of new leaders for sustainable environmental management.
Suthachai Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, assigned Ms. Priyaporn Suwankes, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MNRE, to preside over the ceremony, congratulate the graduates, and deliver a keynote. She emphasized that addressing climate change is a critical agenda at all global negotiation forums. Although Thailand emits a relatively small share of greenhouse gases, it ranks among the countries most vulnerable to climate impacts. Preparing to meet the Net Zero target requires visionary leadership and active participation from senior executives.
“The ministry sincerely hopes that all graduates will become agents of change and role models in environmental governance, helping to advance the country by balancing conservation with economic, social, and environmental development sustainably, fostering collaboration in environmental management toward lasting sustainability. "
Dr. Pirun Saiyasitpanich, Director-General of the Department of Climate Change and Environment, revealed that the PTS program focuses on enhancing the capabilities of senior executives from government, state enterprises, private sector, media, and academia, providing comprehensive knowledge and skills in climate change management aligned with governance principles to jointly drive policies into concrete actions. Today, 77 graduates from course 11 and 93 from course 12, totaling 170, received certificates and badges.
The morning event featured a highlighted panel discussion titled “New-Generation CEOs Turning Climate Challenges into Business Opportunities,” with distinguished national experts including Dr. Wijarn Simachaya, Director of the Thailand Environment Institute; Mr. Wat Jiraroj from SC Grand business; and Prof. Dr. Pisut Pianmongkol, Associate Dean for Sustainability and Social Engagement, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, and Director of the Carbon Institute for Sustainability at Chulalongkorn University. They exchanged insights on business adaptation strategies, environmental trends, and transforming climate challenges into sustainable green economic growth opportunities.
The PTS program has been ongoing since 2014, producing over 10 cohorts with a total of 647 senior environmental managers. The graduation of courses 11 and 12 marks a significant step in strengthening the leadership network that will be a key force in driving Thailand’s stable and sustainable growth amid the climate crisis.
