The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is preparing to investigate the local civil service exam fraud case next week, expecting to close the case within 3-6 months. It emphasized that financial transactions and asset and debt account examinations of those involved will proceed simultaneously.
On 29 June 2026, Mr. Surapong Intaraphaworn, Secretary-General and spokesperson of the NACC Office, provided an update on allegations against a state official holding the position of Director-General of the Department of Local Administration Promotion and other related state officials under the Ministry of Interior. They, along with related parties, are accused of misconduct or neglect of duty causing harm to others, or corruptly performing or neglecting their duties. The case concerns conducting a competitive examination project to appoint individuals as local civil servants or employees in 2025. It involved setting TOR specifications favoring the contractor administering the exam, collaboratively producing and altering exam scores to allow over 3,000 individuals to become local employees, and soliciting bribes of no less than 300,000 baht per person for appointments, as previously reported to the media.
The NACC Office announces the following:
1. Preliminary investigations have gathered evidence to be presented to the NACC Committee for formal inquiry and prosecution of involved officials accused of misconduct or neglect of duty causing harm or corrupt acts, as well as other implicated individuals, with proceedings set for next week.
2. For related cases under the jurisdiction of investigating officers regarding complaints against involved persons, coordination and delegation to investigators will proceed to address offenses related to document forgery or false information input under the Computer Crime Act B.E. 2560 (2017) and its amendments.
3. Financial transaction reviews and asset and debt account examinations of those involved will be conducted concurrently.
4. Regarding the fact-finding committee appointed by the Ministry of Interior, cooperation and joint work will continue within the scope of respective duties and authorities.
The NACC Office has set a framework to expedite the investigation and complete the case within 3-6 months due to its public interest. Progress updates will be provided periodically.
