Deputy Minister Vorasit Acknowledges Continued Search for Khuan Kahlong Subdistrict Chief Amid Progress in Local Official Exam Corruption Probe

The Deputy Minister of Interior revealed that the investigation into corruption in local official examinations has made significant progress. The case has been referred to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to clarify the level of involvement by government officials. He acknowledged that the chief of Khuan Kahlong Subdistrict Administrative Organization has yet to be found following rumors that he fled abroad. Police are intensifying their search efforts.

At 10:10 a.m. on 30 June 2026 at the Parliament building, Mr. Vorasit Liangprasit, Deputy Minister of Interior, spoke about the progress of the local examination corruption investigation, noting that the investigation deadline is 1 July. He said that by 1 July, the Ministry of Interior's fact-finding committee will complete its work. Significant progress has been made, revealing behaviors and circumstances that indicate where errors occurred. As for details about who was involved, he asked that the committee provide the explanations.

When asked if there was an estimate of how many people committed wrongdoing, Vorasit said the Ministry of Interior does not delve deeply into such details because its oversight is limited to matters involving ministry personnel. Other cases beyond this are under the scrutiny of the police and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). He suggested that it is better for the NACC to handle this because premature disclosure of unclear facts could have both positive and negative impacts on everyone involved. Therefore, he recommended that the investigative team provide official statements.

Regarding rumors that the Khuan Kahlong Subdistrict Administrative Organization chief in Satun has fled abroad, and whether the investigation relates to local examination corruption, Vorasit said that, to his knowledge, the individual has not yet been found. Police are actively trying to contact him but have been unsuccessful. There is a complaint alleging discussions related to the corruption case, but the outcome did not proceed as discussed. He confirmed that they still have no contact with the individual.
