30 June 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Sanphet Boonyamani, Deputy Minister of Transport, visited the site to monitor the situation of the incident involving a pier collapse, near the pier of Thai Central Chemical Company, opposite Soi Suksawat 84, Suksawat Road, Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province. He instructed the Marine Department and relevant agencies to urgently provide full assistance to those affected.
The incident occurred at 12:22 p.m., when a report was received that someone fell into the water during work in the area. Officials from the Marine Department, Marine Police, Phra Chul Defense Radio Relief Center, rescue units, and related agencies immediately mobilized to assist and search for the victim. Preliminary reports indicate two injured persons: the first was taken to Paolo Phra Pradaeng Hospital, while the second was assisted ashore by officials before being transported to a hospital. Meanwhile, one person remains missing and authorities are continuing the search intensively.
Initial findings show damage including one soil-carrying vessel sunk and one pier boat carrying a backhoe taking on water and tilting. The incident occurred in an area undergoing dredging operations near the pier, with details and causes under investigation. The company confirmed that no hazardous gas pipes are present, countering earlier reports.
