Somsak Pursues Lawsuit Despite Krits Admission of No Involvement in Local Exam Corruption

Somsak seeks justice after Krit admitted on a program that he had no involvement in local exam corruption, apologized for misusing his name, and Somsak insists on proceeding with defamation lawsuits to establish a standard for accountability.

On 1 July 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Somsak Thongsri revealed that following the release of an audio clip of a conversation between Ms. Som and Krit, also known as Pongsakorn Saothan, which implicated him in local civil service exam corruption, he suffered damage and public misunderstanding.

Recently, Krit opened up on the program “This Must Be Cleared” on Top News TV on 30 June, admitting that Somsak had no knowledge of or involvement in the incident referenced in the audio clip. He apologized and expressed regret for falsely using Somsak’s name and confirmed he had no close relationship with any minister.

“Now that the person in the clip has admitted the truth, I ask the public and society for fairness, affirming that I have no connection to the alleged local exam corruption. I believe the release of this audio was intended to cause harm, attempting to undermine the local civil service exam process and discredit the Bhumjaithai Party,” Somsak stated.

Regarding legal action against Ms. Som and Krit on charges of defamation and violations under the Computer Crime Act for introducing false information into computer systems, Somsak confirmed he will proceed despite Krit’s admission that Somsak was not involved.

“The continued legal action aims to set a precedent that public figure scrutiny must be based on facts, not unfounded allegations or deliberate defamation causing harm to others, and that perpetrators must be held accountable for the consequences,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
