Chaiyachonok, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, is confident that the Government Data Linkage Decree will elevate efforts to suppress scammers, revealing that damages have decreased by more than 74% in four months.
1 July 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Chaiyachonok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DES), stated that the Government Decree on the Disclosure of Personal Data Controlled by State Agencies to Other State Agencies B.E. 2569 (2026) has come into effect (The Government Data Linkage Decree was promulgated and has been in force since 30 June 2026 after being published in the Royal Gazette.) will help enhance the prevention and suppression of online crimes more effectively, especially through integrated data exchange among government agencies regarding individuals involved in organized crime, corruption, human trafficking, and online fraud.
Previously, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society integrated data with five agencies: the Royal Thai Police, Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), Bank of Thailand (BOT), and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Financial institutions and businesses were required to disclose and exchange transaction account information of individuals linked to “scammers” under the Technology Crime Suppression Act, Section 4, to establish prevention and suppression measures in coordination with relevant agencies such as the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, network providers, and banks.
As a result of this data integration among the five agencies and related bodies, the value of damages from scammers has decreased. Statistics show damages dropped to 530 million baht in June 2026 from approximately 2,111 million baht in March 2026, a reduction of 1,581 million baht or about 74.89% within four months.
“Once the Government Data Linkage Decree is in effect, it will be a key mechanism enabling the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and relevant agencies to integrate with other state agencies, such as customs, revenue, and finance ministries, and the Department of Business Development under the Ministry of Commerce. This will significantly enhance the prevention and suppression of scammers, reduce damages, and enable timely recovery of funds for the public. The data linkage will strictly safeguard personal data according to international cybersecurity standards. Meanwhile, linking data among government agencies will also improve public services, target welfare policies effectively, increase transparency, enhance law enforcement efficiency, and support economic policies that boost the country's competitiveness.”
