Emergency Decree Extended for 3 Months in Three Southern Border Provinces Cabinet to Review on 7 July

The Emergency Situation Administration Committee (ESAC) resolved to extend the Emergency Decree in 18 districts of the three southern border provinces for another three months, from 20 July to 19 October 2026, and will prepare to submit the proposal to the Cabinet for consideration on 7 July 2026.


At 3:00 p.m. on 1 July 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Puangketkaew chaired the meeting. The Emergency Situation Administration Committee (ESAC). The 3/2026 meeting was held at the National Security Council (NSC) office at Government House, with Deputy Minister of Interior Pol.Peer Suwanchawee, Secretary-General of the NSC Chatchai Bangchuad, and related agencies attending.

After the meeting, Chatchai revealed that the ESAC resolved to extend the enforcement period of the Emergency Decree B.E. 2548 (2005), the 85th extension, for another three months from 20 July 2026 to 19 October 2026. The NSC will submit this for Cabinet consideration on 7 July 2026. The decree will apply in 18 districts across the three southern border provinces. These include

  • Pattani Province, Muang Pattani, Nong Chik, Khok Pho, Yarang, and Sai Buri districts.
  • Narathiwat Province, Muang Narathiwat, Bacho, Rueso, Ra-ngae, Si Sakhon, Chanae, Cho Airong, Su-ngai Padi, Tak Bai, and Su-ngai Kolok districts.
  • Yala Province, Muang Yala, Bannang Sata, and Than To districts.

Meanwhile, during the Prime Minister’s official visit to Malaysia on 9-10 July, which Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak will join, addressing issues in the three southern border provinces will be a key high-level topic for discussion.
