On 2 July 2026, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul returned to Thailand after receiving royal permission to accompany the royal entourage as an honorary minister. This was to serve and receive guidance from His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of their official state visit to the French Republic from 28 June to 2 July 2026.
Reporters noted that upon arrival in Thailand, the Prime Minister proceeded directly to the Government House to resume his duties. Although no specific agenda was announced, there are several pressing issues requiring urgent attention.
Reports indicate that at noon today, the Prime Minister will summon Mr. Atsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry, to report on progress regarding corruption in the local civil service exams. In the evening, he will call related agencies to report on the drug problem following the arrest of a Thai Airways air hostess by Australian Federal Police for carrying heroin concealed in a cloth bag. Earlier, the Prime Minister had urgently ordered from France that all agencies involved in drug suppression, including Airports of Thailand (AOT), be convened for a Narcotics Control Committee meeting tomorrow afternoon (3 July).
Additionally, the Prime Minister will hold a meeting to prepare for his official visit to Malaysia scheduled for 9–10 July.
