Representatives of 2025 Local Government Exam Passers Appeal to Teng to Protect Examinees Rights After Mass Cancellation of Appointments

Representatives of those listed as passing the 2025 local government examination have appealed to "Teng" to help protect the rights of examinees after a blanket cancellation of appointments. They ask for individual consideration because passing the exam took considerable time and some have already resigned from their jobs.

On 2 Jul 2026 GMT+7, representatives of those who legitimately passed the 2025 competitive exam submitted a letter to Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, opposition leader in the House of Representatives, requesting an investigation and advocacy for measures to protect the rights of honest examinees amid the local government employee exam fraud case.

Ms. A, a victim from Trang province, said that the 2025 local government employee exam, which caused the suspension of reporting and hiring processes by many local administrative organizations, has resulted in no appointments so far for those who passed fairly. Instead, delays have been imposed. Those who passed on their own merit want appointments to proceed as usual and request that authorities distinguish between fraudsters and honest candidates on a case-by-case basis. They ask that legal action be taken against those who cheated but that honest candidates be appointed normally without grouping all together, which negatively affects everyone.

The victim further stated that the delay in appointments has severely affected candidates, especially those scheduled for rounds 4 and beyond. Many have family responsibilities and expenses; some have resigned from previous jobs or are locals who had planned their futures. Some candidates spent over two years studying with the intention of securing government jobs for life stability but now face uncertainty.

The representatives also questioned why, in appointment rounds 1 to 3, if fraud was discovered later, the authorities could remove those individuals, but in rounds 4 to 8, they chose to delay all appointments instead of applying the same approach.

Mr. Natthapong said, as party leader, he believes that many people passed honestly and did not cheat. While the government's actions may have good intentions to eliminate fraud, they have negatively impacted many. He assured that he is not indifferent and will raise this issue as a parliamentary question and pursue it through relevant committees to seek fairness for all parties.
