"Madame Dear" thanks the Democrat Party for the opportunity to serve on the special committee reviewing the 2027 budget bill as an outsider member. She remains tight-lipped about any plans to rejoin the party or return to politics.
2 Jul 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Watanya Bunnag or Madame Dear The former Member of Parliament (MP), now serving as a special committee member reviewing the draft Annual Budget Act for fiscal year 2027 at the House of Representatives, spoke ahead of the first committee meeting to select key positions, expressing her readiness to fulfill this role. She said she is confident in performing the duties because she has prior experience serving on budget committees during her tenure as an MP. This time, she is determined to serve as an outsider representing the Democrat Party to help review the national 2027 budget.
Ms. Watanya added that she does not target any specific budget area for scrutiny but intends to ensure that the public's tax money is used prudently, carefully, and to maximum benefit. Serving as the Democrat Party’s outsider representative, she will follow the party’s policies and priorities regarding which ministries or departments to examine in detail, working alongside party colleagues.
When asked about a possible return to politics, Ms. Watanya reiterated that it remains a future matter. Currently, she is focused on her responsibilities in her private company. She expressed gratitude to the Democrat Party for giving her, as an outsider, the chance to collaborate with the party in overseeing the 2027 budget.
The Democrat Party has been allocated two seats on the special committee reviewing the draft Annual Budget Act for fiscal year 2027. These seats are held by Ms. Watanya Bunnag and Mr. Amphon Pinasah, a party-list MP and the party’s deputy leader.
