Anutin is preparing for an official visit to Malaysia on 9-10 July to strengthen comprehensive cooperation, focusing on border security and halal industries. He praised the positive progress in shrimp and fish trade talks and expects new agreements to be signed next week.
On 2 July 2026, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke about his upcoming official visit to Malaysia on 9-10 July, highlighting several key issues including violence, agriculture, shrimp, and fish. He noted that Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, had already met with Malaysia’s agriculture minister, with promising outcomes. During Anutin's recent trip to the Russian Federation, he met Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, agreeing that these issues must be resolved before his official visit next week.
Regarding whether peace talks would start during this visit, the Prime Minister said the head of peace talks will join the delegation. The discussions will cover halal food, industry, energy, border security, and agriculture. When the Prime Minister travels abroad officially, letters are issued to notify relevant agencies that if any wish to join the delegation for discussions and to reach decisions with authorities, they may accompany him. Upon arrival, there will be plenary, separate, and subgroup meetings, concluding with joint summaries, aiming to reach agreements on all matters.
The Prime Minister added that Suriya’s meeting went very well, involving serious discussions and drafting amendments to previous agreements, identifying acceptable and unacceptable points until finalized. He hopes everything can be signed next week, which would be good news.
