Local Exam Passers Petition Prime Minister Over Appointment Concerns Government Assures Fairness

A group of local exam passers submitted a letter to Anutin expressing concern about not being appointed. The Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office revealed the Prime Minister sent encouragement and emphasized fairness. Meanwhile, Ratchada confirmed the government is ready to coordinate with the Ministry of Interior to alleviate worries.

At 13:15 on 2 July 2026, at the Government Complaint Center 1111, Government House, a group of representatives of candidates who passed the 2025 competitive local government exams honestly submitted a letter to Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, seeking fairness, protective measures for honest examinees, and the orderly management of summoning successful candidates for appointment according to the ranking list. Attorney Phattharaphong Supaksorn, also known as Lawyer Aun from Buriram, joined them. Ms. Yupa Taweewattanakitbowon, Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office and director of the Government Complaint Center 1111, and Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, represented the government to receive the letter.

Before the discussion, Ms. Yupa said the Prime Minister has ordered and emphasized that the Government Complaint Center 1111 listen and receive issues from everyone to help solve the problems. He sent his encouragement, assuring that everything will be handled transparently and fairly. This was preliminarily reported to the Prime Minister, who stressed that actions should be based on facts. The relevant agencies are investigating, while their role is to collect information on those affected.

Ms. Ratchada said that she and the Permanent Secretary, as representatives of the Prime Minister, came to receive the complaints. Essentially, the Prime Minister has ordered that those who commit wrongdoing must face the justice process and be dealt with seriously. Meanwhile, those who took the exam honestly and were affected must be cared for and treated fairly. The center will coordinate to address the concerns of those affected to clarify the situation since their agency acts as a central unit receiving complaints to forward to the Prime Minister for directives and further action. The main issue today is a communication gap: candidates announced as passing in group 4 have not yet been notified by the Department of Local Administration, causing concern about the next steps.

When asked if there are other channels for submitting complaints, Ms. Ratchada responded that the Government Complaint Center 1111 accepts all complaints, not just this case. They will soon coordinate with the Ministry of Interior to communicate further about the procedures for successful candidates and why there has been silence. There have been ongoing complaints about corruption in local government exams, including suggestions and grievances, but currently, complaints number fewer than 100 and have been continuously reported to the Prime Minister.

Regarding the main issues in the complaints, Ms. Ratchada revealed that some have been sent to the Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). These agencies work in parallel: criminal cases are handled by the police and PACC as well as the Ministry of Interior. Meanwhile, their agency also looks after those affected. Those impacted can submit complaints without any time limit.

At the end, the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office encouraged the petitioners to stay hopeful and await news. The group of successful candidates expressed their wish for good news. Subsequently, they proceeded to submit letters to the Department of Local Administration (DLA). On the same day, they also filed letters at the NACC office and the House of Representatives.
