Assistant Minister Assisitant opened up about his close association with Prime Minister Anutin, explaining it is necessary to receive and relay orders. He stated he is not following the Prime Minister just for leisure and criticized those who accuse him of being the Prime Minister's "medium" as lacking understanding of the bureaucratic system, urging careful consideration before believing such claims.
On 2 Jul 2026 GMT+7, reporters covered a press conference on combating corruption in local government exams led by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul. During the event, Assistant Minister Assisitant explained why he works closely with the Prime Minister, who oversees governors nationwide responsible for implementing policies. As Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, he acts as the link between the Prime Minister and the governors. He said that if he did not meet the Prime Minister to receive orders and relay them, or write directives based on those orders, it could cause government harm. He added that he returns to the Ministry daily after receiving orders. He criticized some media for distorting this by calling him the "Prime Minister's medium," calling it absurd and showing ignorance of the civil service system. He emphasized the importance of this role.
Assistant Minister Assisitant affirmed he did not know the Prime Minister before he became Minister of Public Health and Deputy Prime Minister. They became acquainted and worked closely only when he was Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration because Anutin had never been in the Ministry of Interior before. When the mass shooting incident occurred at the Paragon shopping mall, the Prime Minister called all agencies together to find solutions, issuing orders such as banning firearms for civilians except officials, and intensifying drug suppression efforts.
When raids were conducted on entertainment venues, Prime Minister Anutin personally visited the sites to oversee operations. He also went to drug storage locations and to the border area in Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai Province, known as a drug trafficking route. There, the Prime Minister witnessed people transporting drugs being apprehended by the Task Force. Assistant Minister Assisitant explained that this demonstrates the Minister of Interior’s ongoing hard work, which he has closely followed. He emphasized he is not merely tagging along for leisure but works closely to ensure smooth Ministry operations. He urged reporters to carefully consider such statements before accepting or reporting them, questioning the sources of such claims.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Anutin recognizes that the Ministry of Interior’s work extends beyond security to assisting citizens’ income through promoting projects like OTOP. Assistant Minister Assisitant stated that whenever he accompanies the Prime Minister on official duties, even abroad, the Ministry of Interior is involved because it handles matters concerning relations with neighboring countries.
