Permanent Secretary of the Interior Arsit said that Ministry Order No. 1 to cancel the local exam results was opposed by the Central Local Personnel Examination Committee (กสถ.), which insisted on appointing those who passed the exam as usual, causing further confusion. He vowed that after investigating the financial trails, everyone behind it must be brought to justice.
2 Jul 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, stated at the Government House that everyone knows this issue originated when the Minister of Interior, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, received complaints. After signing an MOU among seven agencies, this led to today's arrests by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) in Nonthaburi province. Mr. Anutin said at the time of the arrests that the corrupt individuals were betraying the country, and appointing unworthy persons into the civil service would cause chaos. As Mr. Anutin said, the ministry had to delay appointments and instructed me to convey this to the Department of Local Administration (DLA). However, when the matter reached the Central Local Personnel Examination Committee (กสถ.), they resolved to proceed with appointing those who passed normally, which further escalated the confusion.
I would like to inform that the Ministry of Interior, working with the NACC, has seized over 800,000 raw exam papers and established a timeline expecting the investigation to finish within 3-6 months, including retrospective checks. The ministry’s fact-finding committee aims to complete its work within 7 working days, by 3 July, but we completed earlier due to the Prime Minister’s concern and public interest.
. The next steps include tracing financial transactions. All involved parties must be held accountable. We must bring all those behind this to justice. Once the ministry’s investigation is complete, the information will be forwarded to the NACC for further action. If any additional ministry-related persons are implicated, further investigative committees will be formed.
