"Nikorn" has sent the Mukdahan Social Development and Human Security Center to urgently investigate the facts of an 11-year-old driving into a group of monks on pilgrimage, and to coordinate assistance for those injured.
On 2 July 2026, Nikorn Somklang, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, disclosed details about an accident where an 11-year-old took a parent's car and drove into a group of monks on pilgrimage near Ban Na Si Nuan, Mueang District, Mukdahan Province. Initially, many monks were reported deceased and several others seriously injured. He ordered the Social Welfare Acceleration Center under the Ministry to coordinate with Mukdahan's Social Development Center to promptly investigate the facts and assist the injured. Currently, Mukdahan's Social Development officials and team are at the scene with the child involved. They will proceed with fact-finding through social welfare processes alongside a multidisciplinary team, ensuring child protection under the Child Protection Act B.E. 2546 (2003).
