Vatcharapong, Chairman of the Police Committee, presses for follow-up on the case of a former People's Party candidate for Bangkok MP involved in money laundering and drugs after prosecutors ordered no indictment. He notes that the case awaits the Supreme Prosecutor's opinion following a dissenting view from the Royal Thai Police Chief, affirming the evidence is solid.
On 3 July 2026, Mr. Vatcharapong Kuwijitsuwan, Member of Parliament for Saraburi Province from the Bhumjaithai Party and Chairman of the Police Committee of the House of Representatives, revealed that the committee invited Police Major General Ittipol Chansribut, Commander of Narcotics Suppression Police Region 2 and representative of the Narcotics Suppression Police Chief, who is responsible for the case of Mr. Boonrit Raorungrot, former People's Party candidate for Bangkok's 33rd district, involved in a money laundering case linked to a drug network. This case led to his disqualification as a candidate. Previously, prosecutors had ordered no indictment, and this was explained to the committee.
Police Major General Ittipol explained that the case is currently awaiting the Supreme Prosecutor's opinion after Police General Kittirat Punpetch, the Royal Thai Police Chief, submitted a dissenting opinion. The outcome will determine whether to indict as per police recommendations or agree with the prosecutors' decision not to proceed.
Mr. Vatcharapong stated that the police have not yet filed additional charges against the suspects. However, the police's explanation revealed that the case originated from investigations into 10 significant drug cases, uncovering financial connections to 11 suspects. The police affirm that the evidence is strong and complete as previously submitted to the prosecutors, and the Royal Thai Police Chief's dissenting opinion has been forwarded to the Supreme Prosecutor for consideration.
