Ministry of Interior Extends Complaint Reception for Hotel and Business Licenses in Phuket Until 10 July to Prevent Extortion

Pholpeer revealed that the Ministry of Interior has extended the consultation clinic and complaint reception for those wishing to obtain permits to operate hotels and businesses in Phuket until 10 July, to prevent opportunists from extorting benefits.

On 3 July 2026, Mr. Pholpeer Suwanchawi, Deputy Minister of the Interior, stated that the Ministry has established a “Consultation and Problem-Solving Clinic for Hotel Business and Service Establishment Permits” and a complaint reception center at the Royal Phuket City Hotel in Phuket. This serves as a key mechanism to integrate with local sectors to listen, provide advice, and bring operators who have not yet registered into compliance with the law. This effort aims to raise standards and organize Phuket's tourism business for safety and sustainable growth.

The Ministry of Interior has decided to extend the clinic’s services until 10 July 2026 to allow interested and affected parties to access support. This is to prevent ill-intentioned individuals from taking advantage to extort benefits. Officials from the central government will closely provide services and emphasize strict monitoring and prevention of illegal facilitation to foreign capital in hotel openings or unlawful land encroachment—actions deemed unacceptable and requiring joint protection of national interests.

Mr. Pholpeer added that the Ministry is ready to hear all problems, including legal limitations that may no longer suit current circumstances and hinder operators from obtaining permits. They also offer consultations on procedures for legally operating businesses to enable operators to perform at their full potential.

Additionally, Mr. Naruetcha Kosasivilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, issued an urgent letter regarding the extension of the consultation and complaint center for hotel business permit issues to the Governor of Phuket. This is to implement the Deputy Minister of Interior’s policy with the goal of maximizing benefits and aligning with the law’s intent.
