ONDCP Secretary Reveals Capture of Parcel Delivery Rider Concealing Drugs for Flight Attendant Intensifies Interrogation of Lao Couple to Expand Drug Trafficking Network

The Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) revealed that the Metropolitan Police Bureau has apprehended a parcel delivery rider who concealed drugs for a flight attendant. Authorities are urgently interrogating a Lao husband and wife to expand the investigation into the drug trafficking network, identifying 2-3 main masterminds residing in neighboring countries.

On 3 July 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Suriya Singhakmon, Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), provided an update on the case involving the detention of a parcel delivery person suspected of carrying a package concealing heroin for Ms. Meena. He requested that it not be described as a "capture," but said that the Metropolitan Police have tracked down the delivery driver or rider, who is currently being interrogated to establish the facts of the case. Authorities are still searching for another individual who carried the parcel box.

When asked if the person in custody was the one who drove the sedan, the ONCB Secretary-General confirmed this, stating that the Metropolitan Police are responsible for the tracking. Regarding the interrogation, police are currently questioning the individual.

Regarding the detention of the Lao husband and wife in Loei province, the ONCB Secretary-General said they are now being interrogated to trace back to the source, as drugs were smuggled through certain individuals to Australia and Taiwan. There are 2-3 main masterminds in neighboring countries responsible for managing shipments—one route to Australia and another to Taiwan.

When asked if there are bigger masterminds in Thailand beyond the rider and the flight attendant, the ONCB Secretary-General said officials are expanding the investigation. Thailand is mainly a transit point, while the sellers and foreign recipients coordinate the transactions.

Regarding the Lao couple’s final drug shipment on 28 June following Ms. Meena’s case, and whether the shipment has reached its destination, the ONCB Secretary-General said they have tracked everything and made arrests at three locations between 30 June and 1 July. Prior to that, there was another location under investigation. When asked how many incidents involved the Lao couple, he requested patience, saying the network involves many parties and they are awaiting the Prime Minister's orders today.
