Ruttaphon Denies Avoiding Live Questioning on Senate Vote-Rigging Case, Calls It an Old Issue Unsuitable for Urgent Inquiry

Ruttaphon denied claims by MP Parit that he fled from live questioning on the Senate vote-rigging case, pointing out it is an old matter not suitable for urgent live inquiry, and vowed to answer if questioned again.

At 13:50 on 3 July 2026 at the Government House, Police Lieutenant General Ruttaphon Naowarat, Minister of Justice, addressed MP Parit Wacharasindhu's accusation that the minister avoided live questioning in the House of Representatives on 2 July about the Senate vote-rigging case. Ruttaphon said he did not evade the session, noting he was present three days earlier to explain the 2027 budget bill and had other obligations.

He also had duties yesterday and today.

He affirmed there was no need to evade as he was confident in the facts. He reiterated that he was busy yesterday, and that the question from MP Parit was a live verbal question, which he believes should concern urgent matters, while this question was about a two-year-old issue.

When asked whether MP Parit's decision to raise an old issue in a live question suggested other motives beyond the Senate vote-rigging case,

Police Lieutenant General Ruttaphon said he did not know, but if MP Parit wanted details, he should ask others who might know better. If asked, Ruttaphon said he would discuss policy matters and noted that MP Parit is expected to raise this issue again next week, to which he is ready to respond.
