Worasit emphasized that the recruitment of local civil servants scheduled for 1 July 2026 will proceed as originally planned. Investigations are ongoing for more than 15,000 cases, and if irregular or fraudulent scores are found, revocations will be applied on an individual basis. However, the next recruitment round will be postponed until the investigations are complete.
3 July 2026 GMT+7 Worasit Liangprasert, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Interior, provided an update on the investigation into alleged fraud in the competitive examinations for recruitment into local administrative organizations. He said the chairman of the fact-finding committee reported initial random checks revealed irregularities in some exam scores, as previously indicated by the Prime Minister.
Worasit added that the Prime Minister has ordered an investigation into about 15,000 candidates called for recruitment to verify if there are any score irregularities. If any are found, appropriate steps will be taken, with information shared with relevant agencies for parallel verification. Should fraud or errors be confirmed, revocation of recruitment will apply only to the individuals involved, not a blanket cancellation.
: The recruitment of successful candidates on 1 July 2026 will proceed according to the resolution of the Central Committee on Local Government Officials and will take effect as planned. However, subsequent recruitment calls will be postponed pending the completion of the fact-finding investigation.
Worasit affirmed that candidates who passed based on their own abilities and are not implicated in any fraudulent schemes will not be affected. After the investigation concludes, the candidate lists will be used as usual, but only once it is clearly established who is involved in wrongdoing.
Regarding candidates who have petitioned for fairness, requesting no postponement of recruitment, Worasit said the Central Committee decided that the 1 July 2026 recruitment will proceed as scheduled, while later recruitment rounds will be delayed pending investigation outcomes. The priority remains protecting the rights of legitimately qualified candidates.
When asked about Srinakharinwirot University’s statement demanding the release of flash drives containing exam questions for both the university and the Department of Local Administration, Worasit said that the university must handle its own affairs. The Ministry of Interior’s role is to verify facts, and he believes the National Anti-Corruption Commission already has relevant information.
Meanwhile, Siriphan Srikongphlee, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Local Administration, acting director-general, said that payment to Srinakharinwirot University remains suspended for the third installment.
