Supamas Orders Consumer Protection Office to Coordinate with Police to Urgently Investigate Concert Ticket Scamming Ring Demanding Upfront Payments

Supamas has ordered the Consumer Protection Board to coordinate with the Police Consumer Protection Division to urgently check a ring that takes advance payments for concert ticket services but scams customers. They are accelerating aid for victims and cautioning the public to buy online only through official channels only now to avoid fraud.

On 3 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and overseer of the Consumer Protection Board, revealed that many victims filed complaints with the Police Consumer Protection Division after hiring online sellers to secure concert tickets for Thai and international artists. The victims paid full advance amounts but were unable to receive tickets and were not refunded, causing widespread consumer harm. She assigned Mr. Pradeumchai Boonchuaileu, advisor to the minister; Dr. Patcharin Samsiriphong, the minister's secretary; and Mr. Ronarong Poolpipat, secretary-general of the Consumer Protection Board, to closely follow up on the matter.

Ms. Supamas said she has ordered the Consumer Protection Board to promptly verify the facts regarding the business operators' conduct to determine if it violates consumer protection laws. She also directed close cooperation with the Police Consumer Protection Division and relevant agencies to quickly track down offenders and assist victims. If legal violations are found, strict action should be taken within their authority.

The government, led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, places great importance on combating all forms of online scams. Relevant agencies are instructed to coordinate complaint reception, investigate online business operators, and continuously alert the public to prevent more victims. The government affirms it will not allow scammers to exploit artists’ popularity or entertainment events to deceive people.

“As a mother myself, I deeply understand the feelings of young fans and their parents. Many save money all year to see their favorite artists but are taken advantage of by scammers demanding advance payments. This situation concerns me greatly. I have ordered a swift investigation and coordination among all involved agencies to help victims and bring perpetrators to justice,” Ms. Supamas said.

The Consumer Protection Board advises the public to purchase concert tickets only through official sales channels of event organizers or certified service providers. People should avoid transferring money in advance to unknown individuals or online sellers lacking credibility on social media. Always keep records of payment transfers, conversations, and transaction details to serve as evidence if problems arise.

“Every baht that people save to buy concert tickets is valuable. Fans’ dreams should not become opportunities for scammers to profit. The government will use all available means to protect consumers and take decisive action against offenders. The public is warned to buy tickets only through official channels,” she added. ."
