
The Director-General of the Consular Department represented the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a ceremony to receive and pay respects to the three Thai crew members of the "Mayuree Naree" as their bodies returned home following an incident while passing through the Strait of Hormuz on 11 Mar 2026.
On 3 July 2026, Mr. Mangkon Pratumkaew, Director-General of the Consular Department, represented the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the ceremony to receive the bodies and pay respects. Mr. Panupong Muentan, Mr. Kiattisak Pawapuchake, and Mr. Chawalit Chaiwong were the three Thai crew members aboard the Thai-flagged cargo ship "Mayuree Naree" involved in the incident while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This occurred on 11 March 2026.
Afterwards, the Director-General of the Consular Department laid a wreath in mourning alongside executives from Precious Shipping, the shipowner, at Suvarnabhumi Airport before the bodies were sent to the deceased's hometowns for their families to conduct religious ceremonies. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran and the Consular Department, coordinated and facilitated all related procedures to repatriate the three Thai crew members' bodies from Iran to Thailand. The Ministry also expressed gratitude to the governments of Oman and Iran for their excellent cooperation.
