The Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSC) aims to elevate Thai agriculture by discussing soil quality restoration to lower production costs, increase yields, and promote high-value agricultural products to global markets.
On 4 July 2026 GMT+7, the RTSC party meeting agreed that the true crisis for Thai farmers today is not just the rising price of chemical fertilizers but primarily the "degradation of soil" caused by long-term chemical use. This has hardened the topsoil, reduced its crumbly texture, and severely diminished beneficial soil microorganisms. Farmers have to apply more fertilizer each year but see decreasing yields.
Mr. Peeraphan Saleeratwipak, leader of the RTSC, said the party plans to apply modern knowledge to restore underground ecosystems by stimulating natural microorganisms to enhance soil nutrients. This approach aims to sustainably reduce farmers' dependence on chemical fertilizers and lower production costs long term. To build farmers' confidence, the party intends to establish "model agricultural plots" to demonstrate tangible results locally, along with systematic knowledge transfer on soil restoration and farm management before scaling this success nationwide.
Beyond soil improvement, the party sees opportunities in high-value agricultural products, designating "chili peppers" as a pilot product. Global markets demand chili peppers produced without harmful chemicals, environmentally friendly, and aligned with reducing greenhouse gas emissions (Green Agriculture). This presents a key opportunity to increase income, add value, and enhance the global competitiveness of Thai farmers effectively.
