Thanakorn believes the Constitutional Court will recognize the necessity of the government's 400 billion baht loan decree to alleviate public hardship and is confident every baht will reach its intended beneficiaries.
On 5 July 2026, MP Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana of the Bhumjaithai Party spoke about the upcoming Constitutional Court ruling on the 400 billion baht loan decree scheduled for 9 July. He said the government, led by Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, is using these funds to support and relieve the public through initiatives like Thai Chai Thai Plus, which effectively helps with living costs and small businesses. The funds also back the transition to clean energy and human resource development. The borrowing and spending are conducted under strict fiscal discipline, emphasizing transparency and legal accountability to benefit the economy and enhance the country's long-term competitiveness. Therefore, he is confident the Constitutional Court will see the necessity of these measures.
When asked about concerns over the urgent need to borrow funds at this time, Thanakorn said that given current global economic volatility, if the government does not act now to alleviate people's hardships, when would it? The government will never wait until citizens suffer or the country faces a crisis of rising costs before providing aid. Thus, the government must act promptly to minimize forthcoming negative impacts as much as possible.
“The normal budget for 2026 is insufficient to address the current global economic volatility, which is why the government had to issue the 400 billion baht loan decree. I believe every baht of this money will genuinely reach the people. Therefore, regardless of the verdict, the government is ready to accept it,” Thanakorn said.
