The government emphasizes benefits for insured persons under Sections 33 and 39, providing child support payments of 1,000 baht per child per month for up to three children, from birth until they reach six years old.
On 5 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ploytale Laksamisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that due to current economic conditions increasing expenses for insured persons caring for children, the government prioritizes assistance to ease financial burdens and enhance security in child-rearing through benefits for prenatal care, childbirth, and child support to improve the quality of life for insured families.
Ms. Ploytale said insured persons under Sections 33 and 39 who have children can access three types of benefits from the Social Security Fund, which include:
Case 1 concerns pregnancy check-ups and prenatal care. Female insured persons, as well as male insured persons, can claim reimbursement from the Social Security Office for actual expenses up to 1,500 baht, divided by specified criteria and rates: 1. Pregnancy up to 12 weeks, reimbursed actual expenses up to 500 baht.
2. Pregnancy over 12 weeks but not exceeding 20 weeks, reimbursed actual expenses up to 300 baht. 3. Pregnancy over 20 weeks but not exceeding 28 weeks, reimbursed actual expenses up to 300 baht. 4. Pregnancy over 28 weeks but not exceeding 32 weeks, reimbursed actual expenses up to 200 baht. 5. Pregnancy over 32 weeks up to 40 weeks or more, reimbursed actual expenses up to 200 baht.
Insured persons must attach a medical certificate or a copy of the mother and child health record book along with receipts from medical facilities, plus a copy of the marriage certificate or a certification for insured persons without a marriage registration, to support their benefit claims.
Case 2 concerns childbirth. Insured persons under Sections 33 and 39 who have contributed for at least five months within 15 months prior to the month of claiming are entitled to a childbirth benefit payment of 15,000 baht per delivery, with no limit on the number of claims.
Case 3 concerns child support. Insured persons under Sections 33 and 39 who have contributed for at least 12 months within 36 months before the eligibility month will receive monthly child support payments of 1,000 baht per legal child, for up to three children, from birth until the child reaches six years old.
“The government is committed to ensuring insured persons fully receive benefits covering prenatal care, childbirth, and child support to reduce child-rearing expenses, enhance the quality of life for insured families, and support the country’s long-term human resource development. Insured persons can apply for these benefits via the e-Self Service system or contact any Social Security Office nationwide, or call the 1506 hotline, which operates 24 hours,” said Ms. Ploytale. Ms. Ploytale added.
