Government Reports Over 1,000 Debt Mediation Successes in One Month, Reducing Burden by Over 171 Million Baht

The Deputy Government Spokesperson revealed that in just one month, the Debt Resolution Fair project successfully mediated debts for over 1,000 people, helping reduce their financial burdens by more than 171 million baht and releasing 947 guarantors of the Student Loan Fund.

On 6 July 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the government prioritizes resolving household debt issues, which is a key factor in economic recovery and improving citizens' quality of life. They have integrated efforts among the Ministry of Justice, government agencies, financial institutions, and nationwide partners through the “Household Debt Resolution and Justice Meets the People” project to provide the public with access to debt mediation, debt restructuring, and fair legal assistance.

The results from the 16th Household Debt Resolution and Justice Meets the People event held in Nakhon Pathom on 26 June 2026 demonstrate concrete success in collaborative efforts to address public debt problems. A total of 1,579 people attended, with 1,232 debtors entering mediation processes and all 1,232 successfully reaching agreements, representing 100% of those who participated in mediation.

Ms. Lalida said this operation covered total debts exceeding 179.93 million baht and helped reduce citizens' financial burdens by over 171.44 million baht. Additionally, it successfully released 947 guarantors of the Student Loan Fund from their obligations. The event also provided mediation services both before and after legal action, legal consultations, assistance with rights and benefits, and access to justice processes, enabling people to comprehensively solve debt problems, reduce risks of enforcement proceedings, and increase opportunities for economic recovery.
