Prasert Praises OBEC on Its 23rd Anniversary as a Pillar of Thai Education

Prasert praised OBEC on its 23rd anniversary as a pillar of Thai education, developing Thai children to be knowledgeable, resilient, and ready to grow into citizens who strongly drive the country in the future world.


On 6 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Prasert Chantrawongthong, Minister of Education, presided over the 23rd anniversary ceremony of the Office of the Basic Education Commission. The event was attended by Deputy Minister Akhanan Kankittinan, political officials, administrators, civil servants, and staff from OBEC and the Provincial Education Offices at the Kurusapha Auditorium, Ministry of Education, and was also broadcast online via Zoom Meeting.

In the morning, the Minister led political officials, administrators, civil servants, and staff in a Buddhist chanting ceremony and offered alms to 10 monks. At 9:30 a.m., the official anniversary ceremony of OBEC began, where attendees watched a video about OBEC's history and progress under the theme "OBEC's 23rd Anniversary"


The Minister of Education said that over the past 23 years, OBEC has proven to be a key organization in laying the foundations of life, morality, and ethics for Thai youth nationwide, covering both urban and remote areas. Although it manages nearly 30,000 schools and more than 6 million students, the dedication of teachers and education personnel has enabled OBEC to continuously advance and elevate education quality. It is ready to develop Thai children to be knowledgeable, resilient, and to grow into citizens who strongly and happily drive the country forward in the future world.


Pichit Phophakdi, Secretary-General of OBEC, added that OBEC is committed to developing Thai children and youth into quality citizens equipped with knowledge, morality, and responsibility. They are driving OBEC's policies and priorities toward tangible success. A key goal is to develop learners who are knowledgeable, thoughtful, and skillful, enabling them to think analytically, solve everyday problems, and adapt effectively to changes in the digital era. Additionally, the event included a ceremony presenting certificates to 300 individuals who have contributed to OBEC, honoring and expressing gratitude to those involved in advancing basic education in the country.
