On 6 July 2026, Je Setth Thaisetth, Deputy Minister of Interior (MoI3), updated on the case of citizens harmed by purchasing pilgrimage tour packages. He contacted the governors of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat to urgently gather victim data and related evidence to coordinate with relevant agencies to investigate the tour companies and involved individuals, pursue legal action fully, and expedite asset recovery to ensure justice for the victims.
Je Setth said reports now show over 500 victims have come forward, with more expected to continue reporting. The Ministry of Interior is coordinating with all provinces to open data collection and provide full assistance to the public, ensuring evidence is gathered thoroughly and quickly to effectively prosecute the offenders.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior has integrated efforts with the Office of the Consumer Protection Board, Department of Business Development, Department of Tourism, Damrongtham Center, and Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to rapidly verify facts, extend investigations to other involved parties, and track offenders' assets within each agency's authority to increase chances of recovering funds for the victims.
Je Setth emphasized that he is closely monitoring the case and insists on pursuing full legal action against the offenders, accelerating asset and fund recovery for victims. The government prioritizes citizen protection and coordinates all relevant agencies to ensure victims receive justice promptly. He urged the public to trust that the government will not let offenders escape and will take comprehensive legal measures to fully uphold citizens’ rights.
