Anutin Comments on Constitutional Courts Decision on 400 Billion Baht Loan: Acceptance is Necessary

Anutin said it is ultimately up to the Constitutional Court to decide the fate of the 400 billion baht loan decree. Whatever the outcome, it must be accepted and respected. He revealed that he is not the one making the decision and that no one can be certain.

On 6 July 2026 at 16:20 at the Thai Koo Fah Building, Government House, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul spoke about the Constitutional Court's scheduled vote on 9 July regarding a petition filed by opposition coalition MPs. The petition concerns whether the Cabinet's resolution to issue a loan decree of up to 400 billion baht violates Section 172 of the Constitution. When asked if he was worried, Anutin said the government has already submitted all supporting documents and explanations. He emphasized that it is ultimately up to the Constitutional Court's ruling, and whatever the outcome, it must be accepted and followed. When asked if there is a backup plan if the ruling is unfavorable, Anutin said they hope their explanations will lead the court to a correct decision. Regardless of the outcome, the government will follow any recommendations or orders from the court because they must respect any court's decision. When asked if he feels confident based on the information provided, Anutin said they have acted according to policy and presented factual information. He added that no one can be sure because they are not the ones deciding.
