Suchart Embraces Anutins Authority on Cabinet Reshuffle, Showcases Thap Lan and Phuket Models

Suchart Chomklin accepts Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's authority to consider cabinet reshuffles, affirming he will continue working diligently and showcasing achievements with the Thap Lan and Phuket models.

On 7 Jul 2026 GMT+7 at the Government House, Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, spoke before the cabinet meeting about Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul signaling ministers to expedite work and better communicate government achievements to the public.

Suchart said that decisions on forming or reshuffling the cabinet rest solely with the Prime Minister. He has not inquired about this himself. When asked about the ministry's work, Suchart replied that all of them are subordinates to the Prime Minister, who trusts their efforts. They continue to diligently tackle longstanding issues that have persisted for decades. Just yesterday, he worked on the Phuket Model as emphasized by the Prime Minister, including posting 25 measures and demolishing 22 encroachments at Freedom Beach. The ministry is concretely reclaiming beaches for the people and regularly reporting progress to the Prime Minister.

"I consider the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment fortunate to have directors-general and permanent secretaries capable of managing their departments, such as allocating land for residents living legally within forest areas according to plan. These longstanding issues, some decades old, are targeted for completion by 2027 for about one million families. Regarding Thap Lan National Park, where local residents have felt unhappy and unfairly treated for nearly 50 years, we have resolved the problem. Currently, we are addressing issues related to the Phuket Model." Suchart added,

Regarding climate change and global warming, the ministry is developing and amending laws to enforce regulations on Thai citizens and industries, requiring compensation for increased greenhouse gas emissions. Meanwhile, the Pollution Control Department actively inspects sites following public complaints. All actions are conducted transparently.

"The Ministry of Natural Resources has a very heavy workload, and the media sees our daily efforts on every page every day. We strive to do our best, and we remain robust, traveling north and south weekly. We continue working, and I believe that all the questions from the media ultimately fall under the Prime Minister's authority. All ministers are under his command and appointed by him. Everything depends on the Prime Minister's judgment regarding who best responds to government policies." Suchart concluded.
