Worasit Insists No Wrongdoing Involving Uncle and Father After NACC Criminal Charges

Worasit is confident his work will not be affected after the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) filed criminal charges against his uncle and father for failing to terminate the contract for the Satun Tourist Service Center. He stressed this is not something he did himself, and everyone must use the process to prove themselves in such matters.

On 7 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Worasit Liangprasit, Deputy Minister of the Interior, spoke about the case in which the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) charged Mr. Samrit Liangprasit, chief of the Satun Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), and Mr. Somkiat Liangprasit, president of the Satun Fisheries Association, who are his uncle and father respectively, along with others, for failing to terminate the construction contract of the Tourist Service Center in Khuan Don District, Satun Province, in 2016, despite delayed work delivery by the contractor.

Worasit said the matter occurred during the COVID-19 period. Everything follows the established facts, and all parties must undergo the process to prove themselves.

Regarding whether this would affect his popularity, Worasit stated it is a separate issue. Popularity depends on performance; if he works poorly, popularity will naturally decline. It is not something to worry about. On whether it would impact his work, he said it would not, since he was not involved. Everyone is subject to the same laws and must prove themselves through due process. He affirmed this would not affect his duties.

When asked, as one of the 'lucky ministers' and about the Prime Minister’s remarks on cabinet reshuffles amid declining popularity, Worasit said everyone—not just the 'lucky ministers'—must cooperate and work hard. There is no need to wait for anything because one already knows whether they have given their best effort. If not, they must try harder.
