The Prime Minister has not yet discussed with Wan Muhamad Noor the proposal to dissolve ISOC. He rejected the notion that this is a sensitive issue, asking people not to think that way, and insisted that ISOC cannot be dissolved as it has been part of Thai society for many years.
On 7 July 2026 at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, who also serves as the Director of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), addressed the case where Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, Chairman of the Prime Minister's Advisory Board, proposed during the 2027 budget commission meeting to dissolve ISOC due to overlapping duties and cited its notable record of shooting a Member of Parliament. Anutin responded by suggesting to ask Wan Muhamad Noor directly.
Reporters asked Anutin, as Wan Muhamad Noor's superior, whether he had discussed this matter with him, to which he replied he had not. When asked for his opinion, given the Prime Minister's directive for government agencies to expedite their work, Anutin said that since Wan Muhamad Noor is a local figure, he reflects the local sentiment when incidents occur. He added that they must clarify and explain, and he believes all parties are working diligently.
When asked if Wan Muhamad Noor's call to dissolve ISOC would become a sensitive issue, Anutin denied this, saying, "No, please don't think like that." He noted that Wan Muhamad Noor serves as Chairman of the Prime Minister's Advisory Board and that he plans to travel to Malaysia with him to assist in this mission. Anutin also said that during his meetings with military officials in provinces or the southern border provinces, Wan Muhamad Noor is always present. He affirmed that there is nothing problematic in this matter.
When reporters pressed again on whether Anutin had initially talked with Wan Muhamad Noor about dissolving ISOC, the Prime Minister said, . . . How could it be dissolved? It has been part of the Thai nation for many years.
